Stronger Together

Welcome to

CHASE COUNTY

Care & Compassion

Chase County Care and Compassion through the C4 Food Pantry allows individuals/families who are struggling with poverty save money that they would have otherwise spent on groceries, personal hygiene items, and household supplies.

Through monthly distributions and an outreach program, we encourage healthy eating habits in families that may not have access to fresh food by providing fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy proteins and dairy options in our pantry.

Join us in our efforts to help our community.

Mission

To operate a food pantry for residents of Chase County in response to Jesus's mandate to love thy neighbor as thyself and offer assistance and services that demonstrate divine care and compassion for those with food insecurities.

Vision

Through the generosity of groups and individuals, local grants and the Emporia Community Foundation Match Day Event we strive to find new ways to help all of Chase County afford to live and feed their families in current times.

Incorporated in December of 2010, Chase County Care and Compassion (C4) was created to operate a food pantry in Chase County. C4 Food Pantry continues to provide food to Chase County residents, the majority being seniors and children. This has been made possible through the generous support of school, business and church food drives as well as individual donations! Through your generosity, we serve over 150 different families with our monthly distributions, Friday Food Program, Outreach Program (delivery of food), the Good Samaritan Fund and the Adopt-A-Child Christmas Program. With the help of the Kansas Food Bank we are able to provide frozen meat, canned foods, as well as shelf stable products.

Volunteers Packing Food

Food Pantry

The C4 Food Pantry is open from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. one Saturday a month to "those in need" to shop for groceries, hygiene products and household supplies. The only requirement for those using the pantry is to live in Chase County and to complete a short application form that is used for statistical purposes by the Kansas Food Bank. The Food Pantry does have an outreach program. Individuals who are not able to make it to the pantry to shop may request an Outreach Box by calling the pantry manager at 620-412-3015. Boxes are delivered Saturday morning before the pantry opens. Distribution dates and times are posted on the website, posters at local businesses and on Facebook (The C4 Food Pantry).

Pathways to a
Healthy Kansas

In January of 2025 Chase County Care and Compassion received a Pathways to a Healthy Kansas grant. The grant is aimed at improving health lifestyles and creating healthy places using a community-wide approach and will run through the end of 2026. We are working with local partners to create a community where people can be active, live well, come together, and ultimately improve quality of life now and for future generations.

Friday Food Program

Friday Foods is our backpack program for the students of Chase County Pre-K through 12" grade. At the beginning of the school year, social workers at our local schools provide us with the number of bags requested. Each week volunteers fill bags with breakfast and lunch items, fruit, snacks and shelf stable milk, when available. On Fridays the bags are delivered to CCES and CCJSHS to be distributed to students backpacks by school officials. If your student is not receiving a Friday Foods bag and you would like them to contact your school social worker.

Child Opening Gifts

Adopt-A-Child

Each year, the Adopt-A-Child team works with the Chase County Health Department, local schools and the Department of Children & Families to provide gifts to Chase County children who may not have Christmas, without our help. In October each year applications are sent out for families to request assistance and to individuals and groups who want to volunteer to adopt-a-child. Applications are also available at the Chase County Health Department.
